About Us

In a word, Christ Church Eastport is about community.  First and foremost we are a faith- based community coming together to worship and support each other as Christians.  As part of the greater Episcopal Church, we use both the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and some more recent materials as a basis for our services.  We are a small congregation made up of life-long residents, people “from away,” part-year residents, and vacation visitors.  We share a priest with St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Machias.  We celebrate Holy Eucharist on the first and third Sundays, with the service of Morning Prayer on the second and fourth (fifth Sundays alternate).  Activities like ecumenical book study groups, a Centering Prayer Group, and special services such as Evensong enrich the spiritual life of the congregation.  Our Kilgen organ provides beautiful music for worship.

Christ Church is about our wider Eastport community as well.  Our Institute serves as the gathering space for community groups.  Our major mission is the New to You Thrift Shop, which offers gently used clothing and household items at very reasonable prices.  We are an active member of the Greater Eastport Ecumenical Churches Association (GEECA), whose projects include the Labor of Love Nutrition Center, Garrapy Food Pantry, and an emergency heating assistance program.  And then there are the very popular monthly community breakfasts, the Christmas Fair, July 4 Fish Chowder lunch, and the Summer Fair.

Christ Church invites you to attend a service, shop at the thrift shop, join us for a Saturday morning breakfast, come to a book group or have fun at one of our fairs.  All are welcome in the spirit of community and Christ’s love.
